A Message from the Principal

Welcome to Sands Montessori!
I am truly grateful to be joining the Sands Montessori community as your interim principal. Even in these first weeks, I have experienced what makes this school so special—a community where children are known, families are valued, educators are deeply committed, and curiosity is at the heart of learning. It is an honor to become part of a school with such a rich Montessori tradition, and I look forward to learning and growing alongside each of you.
As both a Montessori child and an educational leader, I believe our most important work begins with listening, observing, and building relationships. Dr. Maria Montessori encouraged us to "follow the child," and I believe that philosophy extends to an entire school community. When we take time to know one another, recognize the unique strengths each person brings, and lead with curiosity, we create a place where everyone feels they belong. Together, we will live the Sands Eagle Promise each day by choosing to care for self, care for the environment, and care for others.
My hope is that every child who walks through our doors feels challenged, supported, and deeply known. Alongside our incredible staff, dedicated families, and community partners, we will continue to cultivate joyful learning experiences that inspire independence, compassion, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning. Together, we will honor the traditions that make Sands Montessori so unique while embracing new opportunities to grow as a community.
Thank you for welcoming me to Sands Montessori. I am excited to learn your stories, celebrate our successes, and partner with you as we continue striving for each child to discover their own potential, understand their deep connection to all living things, and realize their power to shape a peaceful, harmonious world.
Warmly,
Emily Campbell
Interim Principal, Sands Montessori
Emily Campbell brings more than 23 years of experience in public education, including over a decade serving in district leadership with Cincinnati Public Schools. Throughout her career, she has championed high-quality instruction, leadership development, and equitable opportunities that help every child thrive.
Her connection to Montessori education is both personal and professional. Emily often says that Montessori is her "first language." She attended Montessori schools as a child, and her mother was trained by Hilda Rothschild, one of Dr. Maria Montessori's early protégés. Early in her teaching career, Emily sought out Montessori materials and practices because she believed children learn best through purposeful, hands-on exploration—a belief that continues to shape her leadership and her deep commitment to public Montessori education.
Emily believes exceptional schools are built through trust, relationships, and a shared commitment to continuous learning. She is passionate about partnering with students, families, and educators to cultivate a community where every child is inspired to think independently, care deeply, contribute meaningfully, and discover the joy of lifelong learning.
